AI / Architecture Alchemy

For us to contribute to AI in a meaningful way, we have to be using it. If we use it in concert as a community, we train it on the topic that we know best:

the built environment

an AI "Group Think"

Are you anxious to keep up with how others are using AI in their lives - home, work, all the places?

Join a community of professionals who share ideas, integrations...

...and a motivation to leverage AI for good.

This is where the fun starts.

My Current Favorite AI Apps

I'm building Luna Lake and ArciTrek as "AI-first" organizations, testing out various tools that supercharge the business development process. As a serial entrepreneur, I must say, this is an amazing opportunity for the little guys. New apps are landing every day as "vibe coding" enables laypeople to instantly deploy fully functional tools for every imaginable puzzle. If you're still churning at it old-school, friend, it's simple: open up Gemini or ChatGPT and talk to it like it's me. Explain your situation like we just met, describe what you want the end to look like and ask it "what are the best apps to help me?"

I'll only list apps I've used. Some links below may contain affiliate marketing revenue. Thank you for helping fund this adventure!

VoicePal

One of my favorite productivity YouTubers, Ali Abdaal, created this. When I'm out walking Riley, I fire this up, go through the list of things that I have on my mind like points I need to make in an email, writing workflows, or just a simple braindump. This AI tool then transcribes the notes and can AI its way to an email, to do list, speech, blog post or whatever.

Ground News

With all that's going on in the world, how can we trust that we are hearing from news sources in an unbiased way? My friend Katie recommended this to me and it's just amazing.

You tell it the news story that you want to explore and it compiles the statements and approaches of all available media. It removes the sensational headlines, shows you how each media outlet leans (left/right), points out blindspots for each political party, etc. It has become my newspaper because it curates topics that are trending. It's like reading every news article on the topic.

Gemini

My first REAL next level AI experience happened with Gemini so it's #1 on my list.

I was camping alone in North Mississippi, my first real trip out with the 20' campervan and I had no idea what I was doing. It was fun at first. I was taking photos of the panel and saying things like "how do I turn on the air?" It knew!  Then, as I was packing up to leave, the awning wouldn't retract. So I, of course, AI'd that too. It took me step-by-step through how to troubleshoot it. Ultimately, it gave me a list of mobile repairmen within 30 minutes of my location when I asked it too many questions. WOW. OK. LOL. Testy.

AI-FIRST ENTREPRENEUR

Don't we all need a

New Headshot?

Back in the day we spent an afternoon in PhotoShop. Billable hours squandered. Today that process is actually quite entertaining. Let me get you started by sharing my journey!

  • Gemini.Google.com. I chose Gemini because I've been a Google customer for quite some time and it was just handy. I have the Google One AI Pro subscription for $20/month so it helps me across all Google apps.
  • I first loaded my 2016 headshot and told it to age me 10 years. The results were barely different - such flattery, Gemini! After a couple tries and it doing weird things, I took a different approach - a selfie from my front seat.
  • I then prompted it like it was a new hire and shared the results with friends.
  • We all had a great laugh and I have a new headshot.
  • Onward!

2016

"Age me 10 years. Add wrinkles and gray hair."

Hmmmm. Nope.

2025 Selfie

Make a professional headshot from this image.

"Add a blurry coffee shop..."

Note that it replaced my jewelry.

"Replace with a generic coffee shop instead."

Note that it keeps my original in mind as it thinks.

Hmm. I'm not a barista despite my dependence on them.

"Place me in a midcentury modern office building with giant windows."

YAS.

"Ok, Make me a little more tan, plump my lips and add some volume to my hair."

Noooooooo.

"Forget that last step. Show me smiling."

OK!

I'm pretty sure those are my teeth from the 2016 original.

"Make me laugh."

WOW. YA.

"Hysterical laughter, please"

FUN. But...

also kinda weird. I loaded a prior iteration and said "make my hair auburn."

WOAH. Yes.

"Should I have a bit more lash?"

Ok, no.

"Forget that last step. Squint my eyes a bit."

Hey now.

Note that it also tilted my head and gave me a little smirk.

"Tuck my hair behind my left ear and swoop my right bangs a bit."

Does AI know it's left & right?

Too weird.

Yes.

Let's go with this one.
